Coastal Island Residence

This year-round house on a South Carolina barrier-island is on the second row from the beach. Required to be built with the main living spaces above grade, the garage and utility spaces were placed on the lower level. This grade difference is disguised with sitework and landscaping, with the main entrance to the house conveniently placed at the upper level. The house is fully developed at the upper level, with the living spaces wrapping a large raised deck and swimming pool. A third level contains a crow's nest with views across the island and to the Atlantic.
